What is the LED display?

    LED display (LED screen) is a flat panel display, composed of small LED modules, used to display text, images, video, and other information equipment.

    LED digital display screen integrates microelectronic technology, computer technology, and information processing. It has the advantages of bright colors, wide dynamic range, high brightness, long lifespan, stable and reliable work. LED screen displays are widely used in commercial media, cultural performance markets, stadiums, information dissemination, press releases, securities trading, indoor, outdoor, etc. to meet the needs of different environments.

     

    The LED screen can realize the conversion between different forms of multiple information presentation modes for both indoors and outdoors used. Meanwhile, it has incomparable advantages over other displays. With the characteristics of high brightness, low power consumption, low voltage requirements, small and convenient equipment, long service life, stable impact resistance, and strong resistance to external interference, it has developed rapidly and is widely used in various fields.

    There are many types of LED display screens, roughly according to the following methods:

    1) According to the use environment: The indoor screen area generally has a higher dot density, and it is used in a non-direct sunlight or lighting environment. The viewing distance is a few meters away. The screen has a good display effect and requires higher craftsmanship. The diameter of the light-emitting point is small, generally 3-8mm in diameter. The outdoor screen area generally ranges from a few square meters to tens or even hundreds of square meters. The dot density is relatively sparse (mostly 1000-4000 dots/m2), and the luminous brightness is 3000-5000cd/m2 (different orientations and different brightness requirements). When used under direct sunlight, the viewing distance is tens of meters away, and the screen has good wind, rain, and lightning protection capabilities. The basic unit of outdoor screen light-emitting is pixels, and the center diameter of the light-emitting point of the pixel is large, such as P10mm, P12mm, P16mm, P20mm, P24mm, P26mm, etc. In addition, the semi-outdoor screen is between the outdoors and the indoors and has high luminous brightness. It can be used outdoors in non-direct sunlight. The screen is sealed to a certain extent, generally under the eaves or in the window.

     

     

    2)According to the control or use of the method: The synchronization method means that the working model of the LED display is basically the same as that of the computer monitor. It maps the image on the computer monitor in real-time with an update rate of at least 30 fields/s. It usually has the ability to display mufti-gray colors. It can achieve the effect of multimedia advertising. Asynchronous (or communication) means that the LED screen has the ability to store and automatically play. The edited text and non-grayscale pictures on the PC are transferred to the LED screen through the serial port or another network interface, and then the LED screen is automatically played offline. Generally, there is no mufti-gray display capability, which is mainly used to display text information and can be connected to multiple screens.

    How do we choose a better-LED display?

    1. Grayscale level: The gray level of the LED display screen is mainly used to evaluate its color reality. By judging the brightness level from the darkest single primary color to the brightest, the gray level is used as the standard to evaluate the display color. When the gray level is high, the display is rich and gorgeous; when the gray level is low, the color changes to single. Therefore, the improvement of the gray level is beneficial to increase the color display level of the image and contribute to the improvement of the color depth.

    2. Contrast ratio: The contrast of the display screen affects the visual imaging effect. High contrast improves the clarity of the picture and the bright colors and effectively improves the detail texture, clarity, and gray level of the image quality. In addition, the contrast also has a certain impact on the resolution conversion of the dynamic video. High contrast can make it easier for the naked eye to distinguish the light-dark conversion process in the dynamic image.

    3. Refresh rate: The number of times the content of the LED display can be repeatedly displayed per second is called the refresh rate. When the refresh rate is low, the displayed image will flicker, especially when the flicker is too obvious during the video shooting, so it must be maximized to improve the refresh rate to ensure the stability of the display.

    The advantages of LED display:

    1. High brightness: The brightness of the outdoor LED display is greater than 6000mcd/m2, which is currently the only large-scale display terminal that can be used outdoors all-weather; the brightness of the indoor LED display is greater than 2000md/m2.

    2. Long lifespan: LED life span is more than 100,000 hours (ten years), this parameter generally refers to the design life, even when the brightness is dark.

    3. Large viewing angle: indoor viewing angle can be greater than 160 degrees, the outdoor viewing angle can be greater than 120 degrees. The viewing angle depends on the shape of the LED light-emitting diode.

    4. The screen area can be large or small, as small as less than one square meter, and as large as hundreds or thousands of square meters;

    5. Easy to interface with computers, rich support software.

     

    There is something we should be careful about:

    1. Switch sequence:

    When turning on the screen: turn on first, then turn on the screen.

    When turning off the screen: turn off the screen first, then turn off.

    (Turn off the computer first without turning off the display screen, it will cause the screen to appear bright spots, and the led will burn the lamp tube, which will cause serious consequences.)

    2. The interval between screen switching should be greater than 5 minutes.

    3. After the computer enters the engineering control software, the screen can be powered on.

    4. Avoid turning on the screen in the state of full white screen, because the impact current of the system is the largest at this time.

    5. Avoid turning on the screen in an out of control state, because the inrush current of the system is the largest at this time.

    6. When there is a very bright line in a part of the electronic display, you should turn off the screen in time. It is not advisable to turn on the screen for a long time in this state.

    7. The power switch of the display screen often trips, so check the screen or replace the power switch in time.

    8. Regularly check the firmness of the hooks. If there is any looseness, pay attention to timely adjustment, re-reinforce, or update the hanging parts.

    9. When the ambient temperature is too high or the heat dissipation conditions are not good, the LED lighting should be careful not to turn on the screen for a long time.
